2020 Driving - All Shows and Clinics cancelled
Dear EI Driving competitors and volunteers,
After a great deal of discussion and introspection, EI Driving has made some difficult decisions about this year’s driving events.
Life in the time of Covid-19 is extra complex now, and data show that measures to slow and stop the spread of infection will need to continue for many weeks, even months. We hold you, our esteemed horsepeople, in highest regard, and we simply cannot offer actions and activities that could put you in harm’s way.
The Driving Division has made the hard decision to cancel our planned events until this fall. The lead time and work parties necessary to present these events would put our committee, volunteers, and lead-up officials at greater risk, as would those competitions themselves.
The June Intensive Driving Clinic, Everything-but-the-Kitchen-Sink Weekend, and August Combined Driving Event will be cancelled for 2020. We’re holding out hope that the September DT may still be held, and we have some ideas for changes in format to make it even better. The Beginning Driving Clinic that is/was to be held at Bridle Trails State Park may still be held if the park reopens. For that smaller event that is scheduled for August 1 and 2, we’ll delay opening date to June 15 … and hold our breath in case we have to make further changes.
